I adore your comment. People tend to forget that royalty do tend to have very lonely childhoods for this very reason unless they've been sent away to a royal estate. The tragedy of the situation is that Elsa and Anna were LUCKY enough to be close in age so that they could have fun together but were still kept apart, because that would have been the only way a royal heir could actually play like a kid should. They might have played with the children of noble lords but even that could have heavy political consequences.

Thank you. :3

I think it's because people are so used to the Disney 'princesses' not growing up as princesses, and thus having a more free lifestyle, like Belle being able to wander around her village.

Granted, there are some other princesses-by-birth, but if you look at them, they all tend to be hidden away from the main population (with Merida and Ariel as exceptions, Merida because that's who she is/how her clan operates, and Ariel because it's hard to stopper up an environment where you can travel vertically with the flick of a fin + her Dad's magic helps protect the merfolk some of the time) either because they're being used as slave labor (Snow White), hidden from evil (Aurora), hidden by evil (Rapunzel), or kept in the castle so they can stay "safe" (Jasmine).

(I think those are the only four official Disney Princesses? I know that Pocahontas is a daughter of royalty-ish/Very Important People, but she's not considered a Disney Princess half the time...)

I'd also make the passing point that Ariel is not the eldest of Triton's children, she's daughter number 7, so a long way down the line of inheritance. I know she's the much-loved baby, but she would not have had the sort of responsibilities and training her eldest sister might have got.

That is also a valid point.
