Well, there's still plenty of real political things that we can do that aren't ideal communism. It's not like our choice is between uncorrupted communism and robber barons.

Ten million times this. Plus, having spent time in some radical communities, I have learnt that altruism, personal responsibility for decisions/behaviour and non-violent conflict resolution are all things that can be learnt and which are generally not seriously valued or practically taught in wider society. These things all contribute to equality-mindedness and community spirit, and would make for a much fairer, safer, happier society.

But some cynics just wanna wallow in cynicism as an excuse for their semi-comfortable apathy. It's quite pathetic / sad really for everyone.
