I'd keep a food diary for a week, with a column for your emotional state at each meal. Note when you binge and when you don't and how you feel before and after each time you eat.

It sounds like a coping mechanism for other stresses. I did this too in my early 20s but it went away as I found other ways to handle my stress (exercise, yoga, counselling). I also limited contact with people that I found difficult to deal with but I thought I had to see because of family reasons. And I learned how to ask for help as early as possible at work/college, so problems didn't get huge.

Also read up on nutrition. Start to see food in terms of its positives (energy, minerals, vitamins, fibre, protein). Every food is good in a balanced diet.

A lot of diet websites tend to focus on losing weight and demonising certain things like fat and sugar (so making them more stressful) and that isn't helpful when you're not overweight. I found the most useful books about nutrition in my library. Often the ones aimed at kids are the best, so don't dismiss those.
