I can't handle fanon nicknames, seriously. Especially for names that really don't need nicknames, because come on, some of them are already like five letters.

Agreed. Especially when they're out of the blue. Sometimes it may be IC for a character to give another a nickname, but when it's just some random name or term of endearment and everyone starts using it, it gets really lame.

Yes, this. I like IC nicknames... but I've never seen one.

It's even worse when the nicknames are used not only in the dialogue, but in the narration as well. Who is narrating the story, the character's mum?

Yup.

This. I've seen some authors give both Stiles and Derek nicknames :/

Ugh, "Sourwolf" needs to just go away and die in the woods already.

I hate the word "cum". I think that would bug me more than the nickname. Though it was weird at first when a character had the same unusual name as my little brother, so I kind of get you.

Would you prefer someone crying out "EJACULATE ON ME" in the throes of passion?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-08 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
If you think those are the only two options I am sorry for the porn you have been reading. :(

(Anonymous) 2014-02-09 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Give it to me, anon! C'mon! I wanna know the other options!

Nayrt

How about 'come'? Much less ridiculous than 'cum' and generally more common and accepted in fanfic.

I agree with that - 'cum' looks like laughable bad spelling of 'come'.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-09 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
In my fandom, cum is the noun and come is the verb.

It might still hit me slightly wrong, but I think that would work better.

Aw, I'm sorry OP. That's funny but it also sucks.

One time I was reading some sporkings of bad porn fic, which was all hilarious fun and games until a female character in one of the fics had my mother's name. I noped out of there so hard, and became very glad that none of my main fandoms have characters which share names with family members...

Hahaha, I have that problem with Metal Gear, although it's not a nickname, it's the characters (hella common) REAL name. Luckily, most people don't call Big Boss "John," so my boner remains unimpaired most of the time. My condolences, OP.
