Who's "you"?

I assume this is the "secret" part of fandomsecrets.

Nuh-uh.

I was spoiled on Hans' plot twist and then disappointed because I wanted him to be a good guy who willingly lets Anna go to be with Kristoff. I thought the movie could've done well without a villain and Anna could've still sacrificed herself for her sister in some way.

Uuuuh, on the subject of the secret... I guess someone who constantly woobifies villains can get annoying.

I also thought the movie could have done well without a villain. But that might have been a bit complex for young kids, perhaps.

The last time I sat in a cinema with a 7 year old they asked me if the bad guys were 'pirates' (both good and bad guys were pigeons, I don't know how either would cope sailing a ship). I said yes, the bad pigeon was a pirate. The kid was happy.

I think some adults seem to have trouble following the plot of Frozen by the comments I've seen online.

They already did that with Prince Edward. It was nice that, for once, the prince was the bad guy.

Who, me? Never, yer honour! Upon my life!

I'm getting flashbacks to my time in the Homestuck fandom. THE VRISKA STANS. AND THE ERIDAN STANS. AND THE GAMZEE STANS.

ESPECIALLY THE FUCKING GAMZEE STANS. THEY WERE THE WORST.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-09 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
Reasons why I stopped being involved with the Homestuck fandom: this is one of them.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-09 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I disagree. Vriska stans were the worst because they accused everyone who didn't like her to be a misogynist. Gamzee and Eridan stans at least couldn't use that argument.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-09 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
+1

Eridan and Gamzee stans were annoying, but Vriska stans often brought in a whole new can of worms.

For some reason, Loki came to mind and then I thought, "No, if anything fandom treats him too well."

(Anonymous) 2014-02-10 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but they just love whining how oppressed he is, because it's all about feeling oppressed and ~relating to that. Nevermind that people treat him badly because he's a goddamn villain who kills people.

I feel like this describes a good 2/3 of fandom.

Hee hee hee hee hee.

This secret is funny.

the amount of people who wish hans wasn't a villain truly confuses me, tbh

Same.

I liked that her "one, true love" turned out to be a dick.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-09 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
This.

He's a refreshing subversion of a trope that's persisted in Disney movies for a long damn time.
Why would you want to take that away?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-09 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but there are also tons of story where a girl falls in love with jerk guy while ignoring the nice guy* in front of her. This felt like more of the same.

*And by "nice guy" I mean a guy who is nice, not a 'Nice Guy'.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-09 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
But I don't think Anna ignored Kristoff. She obviously liked him and was sad to see him go, but assumed it could not be "true love" because she had been raised with the stereotypical notion that there is only one true love and it's at first sight, with obligatory meet cute.
By the way, I actually spent the first half of the movie thinking Kristoff was going to be Elsa's love interest, because they had the same reaction to Anna/Hans and was so into ice!
