I was sent to a psychiatrist as a pre-teen, one that supposedly was the best in our town with handling children's problems. Fuckwad went the freudian psychanalytic route all the way. I lost half an hour in complete silence every wednesday afternoon for two years, my parents couldn't hear how I disliked it, and he and never ever questioned his methods! I was only freed when we moved out.
Turns out I'm autistic, psychanalysis works shit with this kind of wiring, and all this gave me additional trust issues.

Ugh, this story is so familiar. I once had a shrink threaten to use a voodoo doll on me. And I also saw a weird Freudian person, but all I remember about that is, no kidding, that her solution to my being kinda weird and occasionally confounding to deal with was to dope me up with cough syrup. She wrote a prescription and everything. O_o

And yeah, as it turns out, I'm not standardly wired, but there's nothing like, WRONG with me. :/

I can relate to this, as well. My mother sent me to a psychiatrist because I (get this) was moody as a teenager and sometimes fought with her. In other words, I was completely normal.

I remember my first meeting with this woman, she sat at the opposite end of a very long table from me and smacked gum while talking at me. I was told that I had "anger management" problems and "avoidance" problems and "attachment" problems and all sorts of things. I just started tuning her out.

Urghk, I had a similar child psychologist experience where all they wanted to do was talk about my parents/dad when neither of them were the problem?! Such a waste of time.
