Re: Sell me on your OTP (or any couple, actually)

(Anonymous) 2014-02-08 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, man. My biggest ever OTP was Doctor/Sarah Jane (the 4th Doctor to be precise), but due to the format of the show at the time most of their moments between each other tended to happen in brief pauses between being eaten by dinosaurs or thrown in pits. The first scene that comes to mind is in Hand of Fear, which is actually SJ's last episode; Sarah was pretty badly hurt earlier and the Doctor forbade her from following him to confront the baddie of the week. Naturally, since this is Sarah Jane we're talking about, she was like "lol yeah right" and followed him as soon as he left. When he asks why, she says (half-defiant and half-serious) "Because I worry about you!"

"But there's just one problem," he says.

"Ooooh, what?" The Doctor is allergic to sentiment, you see, and strongly disinclined to sincere moments. He spends most of his time teasing her, and is in some ways the most 'alien' of the Doctors.

But what he says, very simply, is "I worry about you too."

(the Doctor has called many people 'friend', but after Sarah Jane he didn't introduce someone as 'my best friend' for a long, long time)
