YOU ARE NOT MISTAKEN WE ARE ALL VERY POLITE. We say sorry at least 3 times (or at least I do). Unless we lose at hockey. Then we start riots.

I'm not sure how to describe it. French people can speak English in the stereotypical accent you see on TV (like Kevin Kline in French kiss). Quebecois people speaking English sound like they have a better grasp on certain English sounds (like the English 'r' or 'th'). This might be because Canada is a bilingual country so we are surrounded by English much more often.

It's sort of like American vs. British accents, wherein Quebec French is also seen as less sophisticated and speaking in a French accent in Quebec might make people think your'e a bit of a snob.

Ahaa, I think I understand, I still can't quite imagine it in my head but it's no longer just me thinking that it sounds exactly like the French spoken in France.
