Sometimes social-issue fandom wank can be hilariously weird, too, especially if shipping or headcanons enter into it. Let me tell you, if this was the big thing when I was in 8th grade, I would have used the same justifications just to make my ship look superior. "YOU CAN'T SHIP HEERO/RELENA BECAUSE THAT'S GAY ERASURE AND 2X1 IS CLEARLY PURE AND SUPERIOR"

Arguments over headcanons are also weird to me. I've got my headcanons (I read Sailor Moon as being hella bisexual, for instance, and the titular character of Revolutionary Girl Utena strikes me as non-binary or genderfluid, despite the title of the show). But it's always weird to me when people start going "i headcanon Neville Longbottom as a transdude and if you don't agree, then you're a rotten bigoted jerk!" Well, it's an interesting read of the character, and it'd be very interesting to explore further, but it's your perception of him; it's not official canon, and saying "it's an interesting idea but I personally disagree" isn't really oppression or erasure.

But a lot of the time social-issue fandom wank is just kind of saddening and stressful :(
