OP again!

She wouldn't have a moral leg to stand on if she's pulled the fic to publish for money and you've fanficced it for nothing,

This reassures me more than words can say. I know this was the case way back when, but I wasn't sure if this still applied today. Thank you!

Sad part is, when the fic in question was posting, and I fell in love with it, the author seemed like a really nice person. Life pulled me out of fandom soon after it was done posting, and seeing all the insanity that happened afterward (via web archives, old blogs, and journals) kinda makes me glad I missed it!
