Any of the scenes in 'Flight of the Heron' in which the Jacobite chieftain is cuddling the English officer, or vice versa. But if I had to choose just one, it would be the prison scene in which the Englishman has to convince the Jacobite that he didn't betray him to a brutal Governemnt officer but was only trying to save his life. The Cameron, finally convinced, faints. Windham tries to bring him round by sprinkling water in his face, then puts his arms right round him and shifts him down onto his straw pallet. Ewen Cameron comes to and they then spend half a page holding hands, latterly in front of a prison guard.

And failing that, I'd go for an earlier scene in which Windham injures Ewen's hand during a swordfight, then binds it up with his own handkerchief and lace cravat.

It's a wonderful book.
