Re: Sell me on your OTP (or any couple, actually)

Apparently there's plenty more angst and love where that came from. I hear Starsky and Hutch are even more touchy feely in later seasons. (I've only seen season one but recently ordered the rest of the series on DVD so I guess I'll find out later. Idek how they could be more in love because in one season they managed to out slash basically every slash pairing I've ever shipped.)

I love watching Starsky and Hutch fanvids on YouTube though. Really puts things into perspective.

Season 2 and 3 is where the gay is strongest, I think. I think after that, so many people started making jokes about the "prime time homos" and whatnot that they tuned the gay way down in season 4 -- of course, that just made the meta more gay, because when a touchy-feely friendship suddenly becomes drastically less touchy-feely, that's when you start to think something's up.

I hear that about season 4, but it sounds like S&H closed that rift near the end of the season so things still ended on a happy note? It's disappointing but not entirely surprising; the show got away with a lot of things, especially for the time period.

Now I'm really looking forward to seasons 2 and 3!

Oh yes. The finale. It it so exquisitely gay that it renders distinctions of gay and straight irrelevant. :D

The so-called "rift" isn't really intentional or explicitly canonical in anything except on a meta level, it's just an accidental impression caused by generally crappier production.

That's what I like to hear!

Ooo, I was lead to believe that the actors had some sort of real life drama going on at the time and their friendship temporarily suffered from it, so TPTB had them spend less time together over the course of the season. Don't ask me where or when I read that, but you know how rumors are, especially on series this old where you can't find information as readily.

I think the actors were sick of the show by then, but it was not, AFAIK, anything personal.
