I wish a lot more movies and TV shows had Aus-pickers. Like a fellow Aussie on my LJ flist nitpicked Pacidic Rim for naming one of their two Australian characters Chuck. Well I nitpick Herc too! They should have been Charlie and Barry!

And also, very few non-Australians can get our accent right. Some Brits can do it, but only some (Rob Kazinsky didn't, in the aforementioned Pacific Rim role).

Jeez, yes. I really liked Pacific Rim, but my god, those were not Aussie names. Or accents, yeah - I cringed every time he spoke.

(On the other hand, put next to a British accent and even Australians sound overexaggerated. It took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to realise that Tegan in Doctor Who actually WAS being played by an Australian, not just someone putting on a bad accent.)
