Well, people do react to death in different ways. You could've also been shocked as well.

I'm sorry about your father, anon.

I'm sorry for your loss OP. I was (pleasantly) amazed this movie made me weep, very much the way Brave had. Just over a different parent this time.

Sometimes when we hear bad news we're too shocked/surprised/dealing with the fallout to react the way we want to. I'm guessing that his death meant you had a lot to deal with, and it wasn't until this scene triggered something that you allowed yourself to grieve.

Don't feel bad about it. Grief is a tricky thing that doesn't follow a set schedule.

I'm sorry for your loss. And that was a bittersweet emotional scene in the movie - not surprised that it resonated with you. I hope it was in a cathartic way.

*received

I've channeled a great deal of my emotions through fictional works since I can remember.

I went to see Prisoner of Azkaban about a week after my grandfather died. Knowing what was coming with Sirius, the scene were he tells Harry "the ones that love us never truly leave us"?

I fucking lost it right there in the theatre.

Oh gosh, I just lost my father, and emotional scenes seem to be really setting me off. I have this movie in my netflix list but haven't seen it yet. I've been trying to avoid movies that will trigger my grief, should I void this movie for a while?

Seconding everyone else. Grief is such a big thing, it's often easier to displace it on to something fictional. I cried more at this episode of Doctor Who, years after the fact, than I did when my dad died.

(Potential grief triggers in the link, obvs.)

Really sorry for your loss, op.

I'm just amazed at how good and emotional this movie was. The trailers for it didn't interest me at all.
