We all get scared sometimes, even when we think we have outgrown ourselves from it or figure that it won't bother us ever again.

Case in point: Circle You, Circle You. Now that is ONE song I DO NOT want to see or hear off again! I straight up slept in my parents room the night after I heard that thing.

SCP-303 is the worst. I still think of that when I'm in the shower and get all uneasy and paranoid. D:

Yes, good god - I binge-read about 200 SCPs while on vacation, and couldn't stop thinking for two days about how everything I saw could turn out to be anomalous and kill me horribly.

I think that's at least one of the points of the site, to go "hey you thought daily life was mundane? WRONG".

And yeah, I like the reality-challenging aspect. It makes things seem really exciting and compelling, nightmare fuel or not.

I sympathize, OP. When I was a kid, we had this E.T. tie-in picture book. I was terrified of the picture of E.T. on the cover. I made my sister hide it under her bed to keep it away from me.

...My several-years-younger sister.

And there was this flimsy plastic cyclops mask I insisted had to be stored somewhere really weird in the basement, I'm not sure what was up with that.

Sometimes there are visuals which just hit a button, I guess.

Just putting this out there - there's a mobile app that lets you download the whole database (and get the Light version without images) for reading. It might make some of the entries harder to "get" at a first glance, but I personally love not having a potentially-scary-as-balls visual in my face the moment I click on an interesting entry.

Alternatively you could turn off image loading in your browser, but that's fussy in Firefox and not many people want to go through the hassle.

the scp-#-js are my favorites. a good one is 1960-j, which is either a brilliant riddle or a cheep trick depending on how fast you get it.
