Well, as a Queen Mother her performance was debatable. But as a character, HELL YES SHE WILL OUTLAST THAT STUCK-UP MARY AND I WILL BE CHEERING FOR HER WHEN HENRI AND FRANCIS DIE! (And Mary is subsequently thrown out on her ass.)

I only started disliking Mary in the last couple of episodes but man, I was rooting for Catherine so hard that I was seriously hoping she'd actually manage to kill Mary and the show would turn into her own reign. Doesn't hurt that the actress is phenomenal.

Is that Catherine de Medici? Because if so, lol @ 'awesome'. She's partially responsible for the death of thousands of people ffs.
Don't romanticise history please.

...Out of curiosity, wth do you think historical fiction generally does - if not romanticize history?

I wasn't talking about the show, though? I was addressing the secret. You can be excited about a character on a tv show but it's still important to remember that the real historical figure did shitty things.

According to historians, her responsability for the ST Bartholomew's day massacre is not that clearcut: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Bartholomew%27s_Day_massacre

There were many factors that contributed to the massacre

History is different from legend

While I think Megan Follows does a fantastic job, I can't stand Catherine.
