Yeah, it's sometimes disappointing when one headcanon takes over something that has practically limitless possibilities.

And also that fan anthropomorphizations almost always lean towards conventionally pretty.

I've seen this fandom pop up twice now and all I can think of is "that dude looks like Nightcrawler".

(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Oh good, it's not just me. I always have to do a doubletake.

Yeah, the fact that there's only one kind is disappointing.

What notepad looks like actually really confused me at first because I thought their voice sounded like a little boy.

YES! I was so confused as to why Notepad was a girl.

[personal profile] forgottenjester 2014-02-11 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I guess the reason is because people generally don't like shipping a little boy with a grown man.

...generally.

He could've been and older dude. Like, 18 and Clock could've been his older mentor/partner in disturbing.

True. Notebook just sounds 12 to me.

Now that is a nice-lookin' clock.

Yes! I'm not usually into goatees, but I can dig this one.

Oooh these are great.

I went to follow this person and realized I was already following them.

They are a pretty popular artist! I don't follow them (because I feel like I tend to jinx people idek), but I do check their tumblr from time to time and they have such amazing art!

someone on tumblr said the creators confirmed that the notebook is a boy, but I oculdn't find it anywhere for myself. has anyone heard about this? or is it just a rumour?

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Way late, but nope. When asked on twitter they said it's gender was "paper".

It bugs the hell out of me that people are constantly asking for androgynous or male notepad, and yet no one complains about the fact that clock is always male.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-12 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Notepad's voice is a bit more androgynous, I think it's voiced by a woman. There are plenty of people complaining about both of them being cis though, the only problem is there aren't many other designs.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-12 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen at least a few Notepad OCs that look more androgynous, usually as a kid-looking thing. I especially like the ones in which it has more inhuman characteristics, like papery skin.

Notepad's is prettier and more delicate than what I would imagine, and Clock is just kind of generic. I also don't think it fits the voice very well, but that's more of a personal thing.
