How Early?

[personal profile] morieris 2014-02-11 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
How early do you like to be to wherever you're going?

If I'm not at least twenty minutes before trailers to a movie or forty five minutes before a class, I get antsy.

It depends on what I'm going to. For movies I try to be there so I miss most of the ads before and maybe catch some trailers. Most of the time I try to be 10-15 minutes early to things.

depends on the situation, for me.

Typically 5-10 minutes, but it really various based on where I'm going. I try to be one of the first ones to yoga class (so no more than 15 minutes early because otherwise I have to wait for the first class to let out).

Certain classes I'd be 20 minutes early and others I would be walking in just as it started because I ran the entire length of campus to get there.

I prefer to not be early at all, which generally means I'm often 5 minutes late. Yes, I know people hate that.

I like a cushion of 10-15 minutes, more if I know there's traffic. But I get anxious about scheduling things with specific times- train/bus schedules, theatre/movie times, etc. I am definitely the most punctual of my group. Others, not so much. It's gotten so notorious that we say this one friend and her family run on "Sherbon time" like there is a time warp around their house and they live 20 minutes behind everyone.

Depends on the situation, but early enough for a cigarette and if I am at the wrong place to get to the correct one, for example: I like to have enough time to get from one end of my Uni to the other before class starts if I have written the room down wrong or we moved for some reason.

Other than that I am one of those people who are always* on time (or a bit before) and I will get seriously pissed if you are late and don't tell me about it in a timely manner. Being late in itself is no issue for me, but if you are delayed tell me when it happens, not after you should have showed up.

*With few exceptions, but I only use public transportation so it has happened that I am slightly late because the bus is running late, but I will always message the person(s) I am meeting the second I realize I will be late.

Fashionably late.

I don't know if it's an ADHD thing, but I just hate being early. I've got the skill of arriving just on time down pat. The only time I like being early if it's something that the idea of missing makes me anxious, like getting to the airport to catch a plane, or going to a job interview.

Re: How Early?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I liked to get there 10-15 minutes before a class, but since I sometimes had classes only separated by 15 minutes (10, in undergrad)...

I like to be early everywhere, I hate people who aren't on time, and the only way to make sure I'm never late is to calculate with time to spare.

Movie depends if we are getting popcorn, if we already have the tickets and if they are numbered. No popcorn, and having numbered tickets I'd be fine getting there just as the trailers start.

Class I get about 30 minutes early, I like not having to rush and getting a good seat.

I always try to be about 5-10 minutes (10-15 for classes) early for things, but I apparently have inherited my father's tardiness and am just about always late or get to places at the last minute no matter how hard I try to get out the door early enough...

I hate being early for stuff that involves other people, because it means I might have to socialize. I try to arrive just when stuff is starting so everyone's focused on something else and won't want to talk to me.

Interview: 20 minutes early show up outside the building, 10 minutes before go inside.

Medical/dental appointment: 5 minutes

Class: 20 minutes (that's just when the bus gets me there)

Volunteer work: 7 minutes

Party: 15 minutes to half an hour late

Movie: 5 minutes late to miss the car commercials

Most of the time I usually aim for about five minutes early, or more if it's something important like an interview or meeting. For movies I too am at least twenty minutes early so I don't miss any trailers.

I try to be on time though I'm often late. I'm usually at least 30 minutes early to take a bus to another city, though, cause the thought o missing the bus haunts me.

Depends on where I'm going, mostly. If it's a movie, then at least 15 minutes before it starts. I try to arrive later if my destination isn't somewhere I'd want to be, though.

I like to be early but it rarely happens; I'm late a lot even though I hate it. 5 min early is usually good for most things. I hate being bored so I will definitely avoid being too early if I can't entertain myself in the meantime. But I usually bring a book or video game wherever I am going.

15-20 minutes early for work; 10-15 when meeting someone somewhere; and like 30 minutes before the trailers for a movie because I want a very specific seat and if I don't get it I get mad.

Before trailers?? I never aim to get to the cinema any earlier than ten minutes after the advertised starting time. Still leaves me more than enough time to get snacks and go to the loo before the film starts. Anything else, I suppose I aim to get there 5-10 minutes early when I can.

Five to ten minutes ahead of time unless it's going to someone's house and then right on time (I can't stand early guests myself because I'm always still scrabbling at the last minute to get everything ready and don't want to do that to anyone else).
