Ever made a post to a kinkmeme and got a GODAWFUL fill in return? Tell your horror stories here! It doesn't have to be your fill and you don't need to link to it, just tell us!

With me, I asked for a fic reversing the fanon trend of Guy A always crushing on Guy B first, but requested no college or coffeehouse AUs or the like because I'm sick to death of them. Fair enough, right?

Except some moron saw that and went, "No college AUs? I know - I'll make a highschool AU! :D"

*facepalm*

Now maybe I'm just dumb but ruling out college AUs because they're overdone would also OBVIOUSLY cover other education AUs, right!? Gaaaaaaah.

I also saw another one for a femslash fic but it was written in this format:

-I'm sorry but I really like you!- Girl A said.

*Girl B gasped* - You do??? -

-I do!- Girl A said -I've liked you since highschool!-

Jeeeeeeeeeesus, at least fucking put some effort in! And it was smut and you can just imagine how that was written.

Oh, geez, that sucks.

I think the worst thing is... how can you react? I mean, it's probably a good thing they can't see your facial expressions IRL. I just normally say "Thank you" and that's it, because I just can't muster up the ability to lie.

One of the worst fills I ever got was when I asked for a fluff-fic, and I got a response that turned out to be surprise ABO.

I'd honestly just be happy to get a fill. Just one fill. Ever.

Yep, that's what I was about to say. Just one fill and I'd be happy. I write lots but receive - none, I think. I can't remember any.

Although I once got some unexpected fanart based on one of my fics and that was SO GOOD AND AMAZING AND PERFECT that I'm all happy inside just remembering it.

Though come to think of it, I've done about 10 fanarts for other people's fics before I got that in return.

Ah well. Give without expecting to receive.

That's my experience. My fills are generally well received, and I try to just take pleasure in that. But just once I'd love for one of my prompts to get adopted. I don't feel like I ask for stuff that is that bizarre.

Yup. Made a request for femdom for a particular pairing, but mentioned that feet are a squick for mine. Had a filler write a fic that included a foot fetish scene. Not sure if they were trying to spite me or just couldn't imagine femdom without it, but I was rather annoyed and squicked.

Maybe they thought squick meant the opposite of what it means?

None that I've ever prompted, but I've seen some hilariously stupid animu bullshit posted to fandoms that are the polar opposite of animu bullshit. I feel like naming names is just a bit cruel though.

Most the fills I've received have been excellent, and that anyone bothered to take the time to write them in the first place is all kinds of awesome, but there have been a couple that could have gone better. Nothing TOO major but I once asked for a female version of the character in question and got the male one instead, which didn't ruin the fill, just made me a bit less interested. I still commented and everything.

I've also had the point of the fill ignored a few times, especially where unrequited love is involved.

I've never actually a 'bad' kink meme fill, a couple where I didn't get quite what I wanted but I never hated them.
I did, however, get a fill once that was of ok quality that other people liked but then the filler let it get to their head and kept invading other prompts announcing themselves as the person who filled my request in what I thought seemed to be an obnoxious way. Not sure if anyone else thought it was, but I still felt like I created a monster somehow.

Of the few fills I've had, none are really bad, but one made me realise that the way the filler decided to fill it (and I said "That's fine!" to) is something that really fails to appeal to me - that is, when someone genderswaps both sides of my slash feature pairing, turning the idea into femmeslash.

If I get any more requests by fillers if doing that is okay, I will have to tell them something along the lines of "Well it's not my cup of tea, but I won't stop you doing it". Maybe add a warning that I may not comment/review.

What I've seen happen several times was people asking for very, very popular fanon tropes or ships to be avoided in the fill and then some spiteful fanbrat of the trope/fill went "I'M GONNA WRITE A FILL THAT INCLUDES THE THINGS YOU DON'T WANT BECAUSE YOU SUCK" and I am always amazed why they would waste their time and energy on a fill that wasn't wanted instead of filling a prompt relevant to their interests.

Oh and I also find it a bit sad if someone who is clearly not a native speaker writes a fill that could be nice but is really so full of mistakes it's hard to read. Especially if you want to be nice and comment on it anyway and then it's one of those multi-multi-chaptered fills and you have to read and comment on it after every update.

Worst responses to prompts?

Number one would be the arses who post "YES, I will write this! MINE!" and scare off any other potential fillers, but who are then never seen again and thus the prompt is dead. :(

Number two: Wall of text. I don't care how good the story is. Spaces and indenting are important. Cannot, will not, shall not read your wall of text.

Number three: Got something which, while the actual elements of the prompt were included very well and it was very well written... ... had a terribly sad and depressing ending which just ruined it all for me; seemed completely justified in-story but how they got from my prompt to the general atmosphere (genre?) of what they posted was a complete mystery to me.

Number four: That time where the fill was for ZERO APPARENT REASON a crossover fic with some fandom I had never heard of. Worst part was EVERYBODY else on the meme was commenting on how clever and awesome it was and how lucky I was to get such a brilliant fill. And there I was thinking "I don't GET it!" :(
