(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)2) People saying "fair enough"; it always makes me think there's an ideal rate of fairness there, but these people are deciding "Eh, halfway there is cool," and I know that's not what people mean but it bugs the HELL out of me.
3) And probably just because I am a sad lonely expat, but the complete lack of the voiced 's' sounds when people here speak English with me is RAGE inducing. (For the record, I am bilingual and always remind people that if they want to they CAN speak the local dialect with me but most people want to practice and ... then it's always "How'sss thinkss thesssse daysss?" it's like a snake-pit. I can deal with everything else- the general accent, vowel oddness, the th's being s or f or d or anything but th. So I have no idea why this one sound drives me 'round the twist.
ah hem. I clearly need help. Or therapy. Or to go home. :/
