I know we've got a few of you.

Going to be in Tokyo and Kyoto respectivley for the last twenty days of March.

I'm always up for meeting internet people, especially if they know the area, and all the good places to hit up.

If you're free/interested drop me a line and we can sort something out.

Ironically I'd probably be able to show you more good places to hit up in Tokyo where I lived last time I was here, but I'm in Kyoto now. If you'd like to meet up I'm game.

"Good places" also depends entirely on what you're looking to do - nature, history, culture, nightlife, weeaboo excursions? I'd be more than happy to show you around Osaka's equivalent of Akihabara in Den Den Town, if you're not Maid Cafe and doujinshi'd out by then. I don't know what the status of airsoft is in the UK but I also know where to snag gun replicas for a good price. Like I said last time, I tend to do the outdoors/nature shit over nightlife, but I can ask around from some of the other grad students here.

Also if you're getting a JR Pass, go to Hiroshima. The A Bomb Memorial is one of those once in a lifetime, never forget experiences. And it's right next to Miyajima, considered one of the most beautiful sites/sights in Japan.

Cool. Will forward you mobile numbers, address etc nearer the time.

Preference is going to be seeing at least some of the nightlife and weaboo stuff, so I definetley be up for a guide around Den Den Town. But the Kyoto side of the trip is intentionally to see the sights and nature. It's cherry blosom season as well right?

Airsoft unfortunatley has become more tightly controlled recently (fucking lol, even when I was a dumb ass teenager I knew Hackney boys with big toys if you had the money, but lets set that aside) so as much as fake guns appeals to the kid in me, it's a no go unless it's sci-fi or clearly not replica. Though playing a skirmish against a load of japanese guys does sound tempting, if it's a regular thing.

I think we're getting the JR Pass (mate is doing the logisitics for the most part, I'm doing most of the funding), in which case, yeah we will certainly go to the memorial.

Yep, that should be the start of the cherry blossom season, depending on the weather. When I first got here April 1st of last year, it was already 30 degrees outside and the season was almost over, but apparently that was a fluke. Some of the areas around Kyoto are famous for blossom viewing.

Airsoft is a regular thing, but the club games and their free gear rentals are for students only. That said, it's our spring vacation, so there might be an informal game or two - I'll keep you posted. The biggest problem for you I think would be the BDU - the tallest man in the club by quite a ways is 6'. But people play in old jeans all the time.

Definitely consider the JR Pass. A seven day unlimited ride pass is the cost of taking the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto in back and can have you hoping around to all the major sites in Japan in no time.
