This time with authors!

Are we just describing the author/things they typically write?

Also a film director, artist, and actor. Writes experimental stories about real people and relationships, and tends to be a little bit weird.

Not sure about artist but my first thought is Woody Allen? Though I'm not sure how experimental his films get (never actually watched them).

Nope, sorry. I think my choice is a bit obscure so here is a hint:

She is a woman, and she shares her name with a moon.

Holy fuck, this is hard.

I'm wracking my brain about moons and I'm coming up with nothing.

Wrote about going under the sea and above the ground and inside the earth and on the goddamn moon before sci-fi was even a thing, has a crater on the moon named after them and was shot in the leg by their nephew for some reason

1. Best known for his fantasy series, but he also wrote sci-fi and non-fiction; pretty much everything he writes is heavy on the Christian subtext (or sometimes just plain old text).

2. Wrote what can arguably be considered YA years before YA was really a thing; was great at describing gorgeous scenery; her most famous work spawned several sequels and has been adapted for the screen more times than I can count on my fingers.

3. Hates almost all film adaptations of his work; loves obscure references; thought by many to be insane.

Yay! I didn't know he also wrote sci-fi; that's very interesting.

Yep. I've heard his Space Trilogy described as "Narnia for grown-ups", but honestly I don't think they're much alike at all. The first two books follow the planetary romance tradition that was popular in sci-fi in ye olden days ("romance" in the old-fashioned literary sense, not the "people in love" sense), and the third book is more pseudo-dystopian social satire type sci-fi (think 1984 or Brave New World).

They're definitely worth reading if you like stuff like that, though!

If 3 isn't Alan Moore, it should be.

1) C.S. Lewis

2) Montgomery? The Anne of Green Gables writer ,anyway.

3) Alan Moore. Although there may be other crotchety magician authors who hate hollywood out there.

Yes to all!

(If there are other crotchety Hollywood-hating magician authors, I'm not familiar with them. But I'd like to be.)
