Irrationally annoying things

(Anonymous) 2014-02-12 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
My SO has a beard. He strokes it. Constantly.

We're watching a movie and out of the corner of my eye I see him stroking that goddamn beard and it's driving me crazy. I don't even dislike the beard. Like, he looks good with it. But the constant. Stroking. It's like a glaring red X in the corner of my vision that won't go away.

I feel like a jerk for being bothered by it.

What about you? Do you have something like this?

My ex used to constantly pick at the little hairs on her chin instead of getting up and tweezing them. But there wasn't anything good-looking about that.

There's only one solution.

You'll have to hold him down and shave it off.

This is making me picture Grand Maester Pycelle from ASOIAF...it's not a good thought.

I'm sure I do something like this. I have extremely mild trichotillomania (really only happens if I'm excessively stressed or incredibly bored, and then I don't pull out hair that isn't already shedding), but it does mean I touch my face/eyebrows/eyelashes/hair a whole lot and my hands are almost always moving around my face.

I've tried to stop it before but it's a compulsion and I often don't even realize I'm doing it.

So... sorry, anon. You would probably get irritated as fuck with me after a while if we were watching a movie.

My other half bites his nails, a lot, and it drives me mad because I can hear him chewing on them while we're watching TV or a movie.

He is a supervillain.

As for me, I'm starting to get a little annoyed by "Why is this a secret?" comments here.

Not sure whether this falls into the category of "irrationally annoying things"

(Anonymous) 2014-02-12 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
or just "annoying things": perfume that can be smelled from ten or more feet away. Why do people think everyone wants to smell them?

IMO that's rational. People can be allergic to perfume. I'm rather sensitive to it and have gotten a pretty bad headache from people who tried on ALL THE TESTERS and came up to the counter I was working at. Even thinking about it now is making my nose stuffy. :\
starphotographs: ...I'm not that bad, though. And I don't even light things on fire! Well, not regularly... (Izaya (devious))

This reminds me of when my mom and aunt tested a bunch of stuff in a store, and immediately upon leaving, they both said: "...WE STINK! D:"

I like scented stuff as long as someone isn't like, doused in it. But that was funny. XD

I used to have a coworker who I usually could smell before I saw her due to her perfume. She must have bathed in the stuff.

My daughter constantly makes little noises with her mouth. It's only noticeable if she's like snuggled up next to me or something, but it drives me crazy!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I eat at our computer desks, because fuck the dining table. The setup is this: [my computer] [husband's computer] [tv]
He leans over to take a bite, and blocks the tv. Not usually a big deal, but it gets annoying to have the screen blocked every twenty or so seconds. It just breaks my focus, especially if we're gaming.
