DA. This comment reads like a misfire. I don't think it is, but it's like you're having some sort of parallel conversation where there were a whole lot of arguments missing.

"More realistic" does not equate to "paradise, go live there!" So... you don't want to live there. Okay, then don't.

I think she/he is one of those people who think the fantasy genre is (or should be) about flawless noble heroes battling inhuman monsters. There are some "old school" fantasy neckbeards who think Martin and writers like him "ruined" fantasy.

No, Martin's universe is called a crapsack world for a reason. The point is that that's not inherently any more realistic than a world of flawless noble heroes battling inhuman monsters.

Anyone who thinks Martin's world is totally realistic has a very skewed perception of reality - and even historical reality. Martin designed his characters and plot seemingly on shock factor horror, and that's not any more real than a world of heroes who always do the right thing.
