like the title says. im not active on LJ anymore, mostly i am on tumblr and twitter now. but is DW any more active fandom wise than it used to be? i made one like 2 years ago, or something, and there was basically no communities to join and nothing to do lol. right now f!s is the only reason i come here so i see no point in not being anon.

but i've found it hard to make fandom friends lately so if i could make some here on DW i'd like that.

this is the only comm I really do anything with, but I like having a dreamwidth

you might be able to make friends on fs if you had a name? I did.

i hate to say this cause it only makes me sound like an asshole, but a lot of the named people here i don't like lol. well, that's not true, i guess i only remember the ones i don't like. but maybe i'll try making one and posting here anyway to see how it goes.

There are a few active or semi-active places but it's nothing like LJ was with fandom. It's sad that DW never seemed to catch on (personally I think it has a lot to do with the names behind the creative team and that whole inner circle, but that's neither here nor there). It can be worth it for a few friends but don't expect too much.

I'm pretty much only active on this comm. I'm lucky my fandom has a small close knit community on LJ still.

If you want to? You can comment either way so it really depends on if you care about the convenience (it IS much nicer to get emails about comments!).

You might make friends here with an account, so if that's important to you then I say go for it. (But you said you didn't like a lot of people here, so...idk if that's a big draw for you or not.)

Oh, and what others have said about activity is true; there are some reasonably active communities but speaking from experience there don't seem to be many of them. DW is pretty slow; mostly things have moved to tumblr.

Try it out for a week or two and see how you like it. You can always quit or post mostly anon.

I was convinced that I'd stay anon for forever here, but I've had some fun un-anoning. I've also noticed people I didn't beforehand and comment alerts are a godsend.

I'm still a wuss and post most things anon, though, but it works.

Meh. It takes like 30 seconds to set up an account, and I've had less people call me a troll or an asshole since I did (It's still early days, but I think having an actual name gives you an air of legitimacy that anons don't get.) Plus you might find that you actually want to do something with your DW, and you can literally do as much or as little as you feel like as and when you want to. Someday soon, I might make myself an Icon, for example.

Try it out, see how you like it. It's a remarkably low pressure and you might find it worth it.
