Problematic tropes in fic that you like?
(Anonymous) 2014-02-15 02:38 am (UTC)(link)Re: Problematic tropes in fic that you like?
(Anonymous) 2014-02-15 02:46 am (UTC)(link)(I say "guy" and "male" only because I have never seen this trope in femslash. I would totally read femslash fic with that premise if it existed.)
Re: Problematic tropes in fic that you like?
(Anonymous) 2014-02-15 08:11 am (UTC)(link)I want to read this in an Ace Attorney fic, with Gumshoe angsting over Edgeworth. Given Gumshoe's epic levels of hero worship for his boss, and his sometimes confused ability to uptake, it would work so well.
I left a prompt on the kink meme but no reply (yet). Might write it myself (eventually).

(Anonymous) 2014-02-15 02:46 am (UTC)(link)Also: Sex Pollen fic or fic where two characters are forced to have sex with each other by a third party for some reason or another. Whether the fic does it purely as an excuse for porn or does it to realistically explore the consequences of such a thing, I'll read it.
Re: Problematic tropes in fic that you like?
I know they're fucked up but damn if I don't eat it up.

Unless you hate long fic, in which case it's longer than Les Miserables so maybe not. I'm honestly sad the author has said she has no interest in doing a scrub-off-the-serial numbers and publish deal. If you're not familiar with the source material, Once Upon a Time is a silly drama show on ABC that is fairy tale mashups+Disney+soap operas=crack, both in the bizarre and in the addictive sense. The writing can be cringe-worthy, but Skin Deep is the BatB episode, and it's worth watching all on it's own.
And come on, you can't say you would read a thousand BatB AU fics and not provide recs! Even if you haven't found a thousand good ones, surely you've at least found one? Do any of your fandoms produce a lot of BatB AUs?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-15 03:20 am (UTC)(link)I don't know -- for some reason, that ONLY works in fanfic, not in any original fiction, and sure as fuck not in real life -- I have this "it shows how much trust there is in a relationship when your partner knows you better than you know yourself, and so he can rape you and make you love it when you didn't even realize that it's what you actually wanted all along" kink.
My other noncon/dubcon fanfic kink is the "oh noes, I totally raped you!"/"no you didn't sweetie, I loved it!" bit that comes after sudden wild spur-of-the-moment uncontrollable sexing.

The irony? Recent incidents in my RP seem to have basically done that - Kíli and Boromir falling in love because of their soulbond.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-15 07:29 am (UTC)(link)Rare, though. I'd love any recs.
Re: Problematic tropes in fic that you like?
If you're not familiar with Homestuck, usually what the trolls do is (with various partners) fill pails with their genetic material which are then collected by drones and given to the Mother Grub. If they can't fill this obligation, they get culled. This is an AU where Eridan has the ability to reproduce so he basically is forced to be a Mother Grub.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-15 08:05 am (UTC)(link)Or just experimenting, and they still think of themselves as purely straight.
It's a popular trope in gay porn, so I'm not alone in liking it. But it's definitely problematic.
There's not enough fic for this. I've looked. My favourite example so far wasn't even in a fic but in a TV series called 'Nathan Barley'. A straight guy pulls off another guy in a pub toilet (using several pairs of gloves to protect his honour) and I watched that so many times. It's supposed to be comedy but it's pretty hot stuff. The little grunts.
I think there was one Marauders-era fic on this subject where Sirius and James experimented?
There are a couple of BBC Sherlock fics where John is 'straight' but ends up having sex with Mycroft (who's definitely gay). Sometimes it's for money. Sometimes for more angry, complicated reasons. I would love to read more of these fics. They're my ideal pairing for this trope.
