I agree with you, OP. I don't care what real-life women do with their lives, but it would be nice to see some fictional women that just don't give a fuck about "romance", or that maybe decide that "romance" isn't for them, or maybe they don't give up their "dreams" or ambitious because of love.

This is one of the the main reasons I started writing.

This is what happens at the beginning of many romance movies. Then she meets a condescending, somewhat antagonistic man who shows her that everything she thinks is wrong.

Which is why I don't watch romantic movies, or read novels/fanfiction tagged "romance", and I'd rather eat my own fingers that write about a "broody, tortured, rude but secretly nice" male character.

I don't hate the notion of "romance", but rather the expectations associated with it, specially when it comes to female characters/women.
