seeeeee I disagree with this. I mean. the whole setup was bad, but whatever people will say about Edward, at least he didn't ASSAULT her. that scene with Jacob forcing a kiss on her and laughing when she punched him and not even acting like he was sorry was so awful and made me really dislike his character for the rest of the books.

the wolves were far from perfect. their total dudebro culture was just kind of...ick. (didn't help that the only female wolf was written as a whiny brat.)

A total dudebro culture of NOT EATING HUMANS. And while the kiss was awful, it's at least awful in a normal way, you know? He wasn't, I don't know, crawling into her room every night to lurk over her bed and watch her sleep.

These are two shitty choices but one is normal-shitty.

I'm kind of confused about the "NOT EATING HUMANS" thing since the whole point of Edward's family's lifestyle was...not eating humans?

I think it has more to do with what they're comfortable with...yes, Edward's behavior is really fucking creepy, but Bella wasn't (that I recall - correct me if I'm wrong) actually bothered by it. (Which is an issue in itself because Bella is a terrible character, but I digress.) Jacob went explicitly against her wishes and didn't take her seriously when she got upset. Subjectively, that bothered me a lot more, because of how it obviously upset Bella and I'm really big on personal space issues I guess...

Look at it this way: they have to make a conscious lifestyle choice to NOT EAT PEOPLE

I'm still really not sure what your point is with this. What does that have to do with the relationship bits? And to be completely objective about it, it's still technically not their fault that they're vampires. (Well, some of them changed others on purpose which is arguably Really Bad, but that's not the case with all of them)
