I speak four languages fluently. Other than that, I can understand everything that is being said in two other languages (because they belong to the same language family as one of the languages I speak) but do not speak a word of them myself; also, I can read in yet another language (which, again, I neither speak nor write in).

English, Spanish, Russian, Estonian :) And I can read in French, btw, thanks to my love for Joann Sfar. A weird reason to start learning French, but alas.

Oh man, I didn't know people outside the francophone sphere knew about Joann Sfar! It's a totally valid reason to learn French, he's awesome! 'Le chat du rabbin' is an absolutely beautiful series (and movie)!

I guess you're from Estonia then? Because, well, among the four languages you listed, it's the one a non-native is the least likely to be fluent in.

Mm, not really. Though I am well familiar with the country. I prefer not to speak of my background, I'm sort of paranoid about keeping things separate.

But yeah, "Le chat du rabbin" is amazing. And "Les dossiers du Professeur Bell" (Eliphas is one of the calmest, most reasonable and overall nice fictional ghosts out there <3 His friendship with Bell is just... awwww). I don't think many people do know about Sfar outside French-speaking countries, and it's sort of upsetting - seeing as I can't discuss anything in French.

Last summer I drew a chalk picture of Eliphas on the pavement for my lil' sis. She was overjoyed.

Professeur Bell is amazing too, yes! Eliphas's design is so simple and yet so... idk, original? And their friendship really is adorable.
And your little sister likes him, too? That's so cute!

Yes, Eliphas's design always makes me want to draw him. I especially like the mouth. He actually managed to creep me out with this face of his when I first saw the comic. If he were a character of a horror film, I rather think I wouldn't be able to sleep properly the following night.

She doesn't know any French, but I told her of the main plot twists and showed her the pictures, after which she was sold :D Because nobody can resist the panels where Eliphas is reading to kid!Bell.
