waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy overthinking a slapstick comedy O.O seriously guys now come on

If you think M*A*S*H was just a slapstick comedy then I think you watched a different show

To be fair, it STARTED that way in a lot of ways. Watch the movie sometime. The show was allowed to evolve and grow a conscious.

I posted the over-thinking remark. Yeah, it was a well-rounded sitcom, but Frank was clearly meant to be a comedic OTT character.

It honestly wasn't really a sitcom by the end of it. Around season... eight, I want to say, the serious stories started overtaking the funny ones, and when it finished it was more a drama with some comedic elements and lines. Goodbye, Farewell and Amen certainly isn't comedy.
