Re: Favorite female characters!

Badass: Lornette 'Mace' Mason from Strange Days. Because she drives around a dystopian Y2K Los Angeles with an armoury in the trunk of her limo-for-hire, regularly saves her man's butt while he's getting beat up, and took on an entire SWAT team because she was trying to take down some corrupt cops.

Motherly: Huh. I've just realised I don't tend to pay too much attention to motherly types. Most of the ones I like tend to be more Mama Bear style, touch my kid and die. However, Sybil Vimes from Discworld was the first one to come to mind, so I think I'll go with her.

Duo: Helen Hudson & MJ Monahan from Copy Cat. It's basically the 'damaged criminal profiler and tough, no-nonsense cop' combo, except they're both women. It's one of my favourite movies.
badass_tiger: Charles Dance as Lord Vetinari (Default)

Hells yeah Sybil Vimes. She is a magnificent, amazing woman. I'm glad she's married to someone who loves and appreciates her as much Sam Vimes, or else I might be tempted to step in and marry her instead. The fact that all her hair has been burnt off from working with dragons is one of my most favourite things about any female character. That is just so badass.

I have so much love for Sybil. Everything from badly knitted socks, to impromptu dwarven opera solos, to that time dwarves made the mistake of trying to murder her while she was surrounded by her dragons and was wearing flame-proof armour, to that time she introduced her husband to the 'earthy' bathroom, to her little black book that incidentally covers every position of power on the Sto Plains, to the fact that she's one of the few forces on the Disc who can make Nobby be polite, to the fact that her reaction to the first royal dragon was a mix of 'what a beast!' and 'you can't just scale up like that, it doesn't work', to the fact that she can make polite suggestions and Vetinari will listen, to the fact that she takes being kidnapped by werewolves while pregnant in stride ...

Seriously, my love for that woman is endless. She's just sort of quietly, pragmatically badass, and I love her.
