So yesterday an anon asked about 'problematic tropes that you like" in fanfic and somebody replied that they liked Beauty and the Beast AUs. They then failed to provide any examples. So if anyone knows any BatB AUs from their fandoms that are any good/so bad they're good/made you cringe, post 'em here. I'm also up for recs of published adaptations, comics, movies, video games, whatever.

I'm super excited about the French BatB movie that just came out; there's no US release date so I'll probably end up pirating it until I can order the French dvd. It looks gorgeous. My favorite published BatB adaptation is Robin McKinley's Rose Daughter, because the Beast doesn't change back into a man and also there's rose gardening. I have a soft spot for Mercer Meyer's illustrated kids' book because the art is amazing and Max Eilenberg's kid's adaptation, for the writing more than the art.

My favorite BatB fanfic is A Bed of Thorns http://archiveofourown.org/works/377718, a sprawling AU of a silly tv adaptation of BatB. The character exploration is awesome, the sex is hot with bonus character development, and the author updates fairly regularly. Fair warning, it's really really long and not finished yet.

It's a Sterek fic but instead of Derek and Stiles being the title characters, Stiles is a teapot and Derek is a wheelbarrow. It's awesome.
