I think this is at least partly that Loki, in Norse myth/legend, was capable of conceiving: "And so he turned into a fly and stung his eye, and then turned into a mare and led his horse away". Loki had 'such dealings' with Svaðilfari that some time later, he birthed Sleipnir.

Couple that with the fact that yes, in the myth Laufey is Loki's mother and consort of Fárbauti and I can see where the suggestion of biological hermaphroditism (since the word intersex is a whole 'nother ballgame with a load of implications that don't apply here?) for/of the jötnar would come from.

Oh, no, I get where it comes from. But I'm just tired of the whole "LOKI MPREG IS TOTALLY POSSIBLE IN MOVIE/COMIC CANON BECAUSE THE MYTHS SAY SO!". No. Loki was never pregnant in a male form, only after shapeshifting into a female form.

I get why people headcanon that but seriously? Thor was also never Loki's brother in the myths. So I really think that if people say "Oh, but the MYTHS" they need to look at all the other things in the myths that don't correspond with the comic/movie version and change them up as well. Or at least use proper tags.
