I mean... there are *ships* I don't like (Phoenix/Maya and Edgeworth/Franziska hugely squick me out... but not because they "interfere" with another ship or anything)... but that NEVER applies to the people who ship them; I'm friends with plenty of people who support those couples. Everybody has the right to ship what they want, even if I don't really agree with the couple itself.

It boggles my mind that we keep getting these secrets.

Yeah, I don't particularly like those ships at all either, but I don't have an issue with anyone who does. If I had an issue with everyone who disagreed with me and liked something I didn't, I don't think I could function in real life OR the internet. Plus, I think it's boring if everyone agreed with me, so I like that people have differing preferences.

Again, the main issue I don't understand them is because I haven't seen anything like this happening in the fandom, and I've been a member of it for over a year. Not as long as some, but long enough to see it get really, really popular without problem.

I mean... I -do- have a problem with blatant homophobia, and will sometimes go off on people who combine, say, a declaration that they ship Phoenix/Maya with something like "omg why does everyone say Nick is gay he's not gay!! that's gross!" Sure, I'll do that, but that's more because, uh, I hate homophobes, not that I hate people who ship whatever.

Oh, well, that's different. I do have a huge problem with that. That goes beyond shipping, really, and delves more into insulting people's beliefs and being really bigoted. I'm not quiet at all in my distaste over homophobia, and people like that example you gave are really obnoxious. It's like, so liking a pairing just because they *aren't* homosexual is a lot better than liking a pairing for having chemistry and a deep connection?

I know that a good majority of the people with het ships are not like that, but when I see the homophobic fans preaching about how disgusting a gay ship is and how no one should like it because it's gross, I wonder just why it is the Phoenix/Miles fans that get the bad rap, when there are other fans are promoting homophobia and intolerance. Phoenix/Miles just has the negative stigma because it is popular, but no one is actually doing anything wrong.
