She was the primary reason we ( SO and I) developed such a loathing for TNG that we never made it to Season 3. (I'm not even sure we made it to 2, actually). I am aware this might be because, as longtime Terkkers, our expectations were so high.

In rtetrospect, I can say that for me the only thing good about the hideousness of TNG was that I went into DS9 with such low expectations, and thus found my mind entirely blown by how good it was. Jadzia is still one of my favorite female characters of all time.

Season 1 of TNG was not only stupendously godawful, it's absolutely nothing like the rest of TNG in terms of tone and style.

Season 2 is also godawful with the exception of a few episodes.

And in Season 3 they fired Maurice Hurley, and look quality shot up (and levels of sexual harassment on set plummeted).

A rocky first half of a first season is tolerable, but after two years of crap one's faith that a series will get better kinda goes down the toilet...

Understandably so. However, TNG from season 3 on is actually quite enjoyable.
