Ever feel like a show’s creator made a giant misstep and won’t admit it?

Now, granted there’s a certain number of episodes filmed and scripted by the time the current one airs, so it's not like they can course correct immediately, but they can do it.

So, on NCIS, I don’t hate Bishop (and no matter how many times it is brought up I will never understand why people care about dark eyebrows on blonds), I’m just so-so on her, but oh my god, the creator’s seems to think she’s the best thing since sliced bread, which would be fine, I guess, except, wow, does the fanbase not seem to agree. And the weirdest thing about it is that it seemed like they had a really good plan for finding a replacement agent (either cycling in guest stars as temp agents until someone clicked with both the other actors and the audience or bring back a well-liked character).

I think every creator who gets all gung ho about the ships their fans are screaming about are making a huge mistake.

They need to stop encouraging the fans because then they go overboard and start complaining about everything.

And if the creator is a pushover he might start giving in to the vocal minority of fans. Which is terrible.

Huddy on House. That whole thing was a trainwreck that managed to ruin the show and the fandom. It also didn't do Lisa Edelstein's career any favors and she got pushed out of the show.

Buffy season 6. 'Nuff said.

The love triangle on Legend of Korra.

Huddy was a big mistake but there were a lot of other big mistakes on that show after the first three seasons, especially House turning into a complete psycho who tries to kill people with his car.

I actually liked S6 of Buffy. But then again, I was going through a lot of the emotional disconnect that Buffy was going through (minus the 'coming back from Heaven' part of the deal), so S6!Buffy was probably the most relatable she'd ever been to me.

I'll link you when I get home. Subjectively I think there's a lot of little missteps but I consider this a big one.

...there were going to be more links, but for some reason every single lok-criticism blog I can think of that discussed it has been erased. Not anti, criticism blogs.

Yeah, it's always annoying when TPTB push a hugely unpopular character into the spotlight of (usually) the later season/s of a show. They did that with Jennifer Keller in SG:A and not many people were happy with that.
