Second person is really hard to pull off well. I have issues getting into it too for that reason.

I think I can only handle second-person short fiction, it's too difficult to sustain in the long run. Choose your own adventure is an exception of course, but it's not like I read that all that often, To Be or Not to Be is the only one I've read since I was a kid.

This is true. Also, it can get really intimate. Which can be a problem.

I think the length thing has to do with the fact that the longer it goes the more likely you're going to come across something where the writer says something to the effect of, "You do something you would never do." So they lose the reader.

Oh my god I'm so excited that someone else has read To be or Not To Be we may have discussed it before if so I'm sorry I have a bad memory for these things

No, I don't believe we have discussed it before! I just got it for the holidays. So far I've done the main play's plot and certain branches from there. Like I checked out all the options regarding a certain stew, but the pirate stuff was a little same-y so I just tried to get back to Denmark asap. I haven't played as Ophelia or the Ghost.

Totally off topic...

But is that Rosencrantz & Guildenstern in your icon? And is it available for stealing?

It is Rosencrantz & Guildenstern! I'm pretty sure it can be stolen, it wasn't made just for me or something. It's by _oddities on lj.
