Main-dude-guy got her to try out, got her to finally be a pilot, she fucked up and nearly killed everyone then in the end, Main-dude-guy saves her life without giving her any choice about it and saves the day!

So...how much agency does Mako have again?

I'm not bring up the situation with her father figure because that was a respect thing and could be argued it was perfectly valid.

Of course, my biggest problem with the movie was the fact that in the first 2 minutes they describe being drift-compatible as this huge amazing special gift, but it turns out you can figure out who you can drift with by hitting eachother with sticks and the two scientist can do it just cuz!

And the dialog was atrocious.

But it's all ok because it was so. Damn. Beautiful.

Yeah the whole Mako Mori as inspiring feminist icon thing has always baffled me. Have we really fallen so far since the days of Ripley and Sarah Connor?

We have fallen further than you think, the Robocop Reboot even managed to erase the strongest female character of the original movie.
