No it isn't. I've seen plenty of people saying how much FSN sucks because the main characters are all teenagers instead of adults (when those teenagers act more mature than the adults of FZ but whatever).

It's not the F/Z fans' fault that Zero is better than FSN. (Please Shirou, be sexist some more while telling us about how people die when they are killed. Oh look at how all Saber's interesting issues that need to be fully explored are instead healed by becoming Shirou's waifu.)

Please, FZ was a lot more sexist than FSN. At least the women in FSN are their own characters with their own stories instead of being defined by their relationships with men. Only independent female character in FZ was Natalia, and she only existed to be killed so a man can angst and cry manly tears.

Sorry, I forgot about her because she's an old character, she's fine. But again, it's sad that the only good female character was from a previous work and already had a established characterization.

Still I do feel like her character is handled with more nuance and depth in FZ. I also think Irisviel is a good character, but she's handled by the writers in a not so good manner quite often (also her death sucked).

I agree that FZ is pretty sexist on a lot of fronts though, and FSN definitely wins on the overall female character front. If only Shirou weren't so... Shirou though (but I really dislike Kiritsugi too, so Fate just loses on the male lead front for me).

I got into the franchise because of F/Z and I'm actually really looking forward to the new FSN anime. I watched the old FSN anime and was really disappointed when I hated it, but consensus in fandom seems to be that the anime sucks and doesn't do the visual novel justice. I've never had the time to play it myself, so I'm hoping the new anime will be a better adaptation because I really want to like it but the old series was just...so very not good.

... also FSN is plenty dark and has a fair number of adults. Shirou, Rin, Sakura, Shinji, and Issei do not make up the entire cast.

OP is outlining common complaints that F/Z fans who checked out the shitty DEEN F/SN anime (or possibly the game but usually not because lazy) commonly make to claim the show their precious baby Urobuchi made is better. Obviously the cast isn't all teenagers, but the idiots who feel the need to crow about F/Z's superiority claim it is and that the teens somehow make it shitty. Same re; whether or not it's dark. Of course it is, but the F/Z fanbrats scream that it's not dark and edgy enough and weh weh too much cooking. (Yes, the cooking scenes are excessive, but holy shit calm down there's plenty of fighting)

These are the complaints they have regarding the last Fate/Stay Night anime. Had they actually read the visual novel (which most of the "fanbrats" tend not to because wah wah excuses), they would see their complaints are without validation.

Which... most fans of the series will recognize. I don't see why making a big deal about separating the fresh blood from the old blood regarding discussions is a thing that's happening this early on.

That's. Basically what I just said. On rare occasion some of those people will pick up the VN and play a tiny bit of it and go "SEE? IT'S SHITTY! FOR ALL THE REASONS EVERYONE ELSE WHO ONLY CHECKED THE ANIME OUT SAY!" because they just. Play part of the Fate route and don't even finish it, usually. But that's basically exactly what I said except I acknowledged that a small few of those people actually do try the game, but go in with a "this will be shit" mindset, so idk what you're trying to nitpick.

The distinction is already happening because the F/Z only crowd made themselves so obnoxious right out the gate, and they've already been trashing F/SN. That's not that surprising.

To be perfectly honest, agreed. I don't hate newcomers to the fandom automatically, but the way a lot of Fate/Zero anime only fans act is just obnoxious as fuck and I hate that particular group and am not looking forward to them. Shirou is a pretty shitty MC (except in Heaven's Feel), but even then the criticism of the entire game because of him is so annoying. Especially when people harp on his sexism, but like. Saber and Rin constantly put him in his fucking place on that shit. The narrative isn't exactly condoning his dumb opinions.

But just. lol. Considering how much F/Z only fans felt the need to find dumb reasons to bash F/SN, like comparing the Riders and bashing Stay Night Rider for not being as cool or what the fuck ever and bitching about Stay Night being too moe because of how many girls there are, nevermind that some of them are kind of terrifying and not all that cute, I'm not looking forward to hearing those people say things.
