Okay, "Smith's consistent Two-isms..." I would like to know more about that. Because I keep hearing this from folks, and I just don't see it. I remember Two's body language being very compact, very controlled, even when he was being goofy, and Eleven... well, the phrase "drunken giraffe" has been used, accurately. I don't see Two in Eleven's speech patterns either, or his problem-solving, and certainly Two didn't go around kissing everyone who held still long enough.

I'm not saying you're wrong, mind you, I'm saying you're apparently seeing something I'm not. What are these Two-isms I'm overlooking?

Yeah I definitely don't see it either. For all of the flaws inherent in the era, I don't think anyone can credibly deny that Matt Smith made Eleven unique. Especially considering the terrible writing he had to deal with as he did so.

Matt's drawn parallels in interviews and cited him as a primary influence; after being cast he watched Tomb of the Cybermen and got really excited about approaching the character from some similar angles. Although I don't agree with her on every point about Classic Who, Diamanda Hagen made some interesting comments on just exactly how influential Troughton's performance was, and how he would be a strong influence on actors like McCoy and Smith. The styles are varying, but they all feature a higher degree of physical comedy than other Doctors.

And a lot of the characteristics that we think of as general to the Doctor (regardless of incarnation) are things that entered the canon from Pat and the Peter Bryant-era writers: pretending to be foolish/childlike, blustering and/or joking in the face of danger then saving the day at the last second, and occasionally manipulating the companions (usually for their protection). Just off the top of my head.

Okay, the phrase "drunken giraffe" and the mental image in conjures of Matt Smith flailing around is the best thing that's happened to me all day - I have a bad cold, so it's been a shitty day. Now I am giggling through my coughing and snot. Thank you!

For me one of the things that stood out the most about Two, and Eleven, was how sweetly and often openly they cared. Most of the Doctors have been pretty blustery about their affection for others, Four and Nine not the least, but Two was quite willing at times to put aside his mannerisms and be sincerely caring. (Ten was pretty open too, but in a more fakey "have I told you lately how romantically and/or as just super great fun chums I love you?" No judgement from me, but a different feel, lol)
