I really hate looking at pictures of me and really hate when my friends post pictures of me anywhere.

I don't think I'm actually unattractive or anything, but if I look at my face long enough I start feeling incredibly insecure about how I look and start picking up on the flaws.

Holy crap, I could have written this. I'm super critical about any photo of me. Although I don't have these same harsh standards for other people; just myself. I think everyone around me takes better photos than I do to be honest.

In my experience that's pretty common. I'm the same way, as are most people I know well.

Really? Cause I've seen some people be ridiculously nitpicky and mean towards photos of some women when I personally thought they all looked pretty. And this isn't just guys who I saw do this; I witnessed some girls do this too.

Oh I was referring to being very critical of photos of oneself. Though I haven't noticed my friends talking negatively about photos of others unless it was an intentionally goofy/ugly photo. I guess I tend to avoid mean people.

I wish I could be where ever that is. I unintentionally run into these types of people who I caught participating in this type of stuff. Needless to say, those encounters made me even more critical of myself knowing people like that are out there.

OMG are you me? A friend of mine from back in highschool posted two pictures I was in last week. There pics of our group of friends, and I'm not the only one in any of them so I have not said a word about it. Part of me just wants scream TAKE THOSE FUCKING THINGS DOWN RIGHT NOW, AND NEVER POST THEM AGAIN! at them though. They are actually nice pics of me too. I just hate having pictures taken, and seeing pictures of myself.

I don't mind pics but I don't like the sound of my own voice.

Either way, I think it's pretty normal. But it's probably a good idea to recognize that it's insecurity and others don't see you the same way you see yourself, and try to learn to be ok with pics if you can.

I don't want pictures posted of me anywhere, mainly because I don't want to wind up in anybody's facial recognition database.

Me, too. I know I'm not that unusually hideous (or at least everyone is doing a good job of deceiving me about it) but I can't stand seeing photos of myself. They always look wrong, and make me feel weird and kind of hopeless about myself. I've actually offended some people by asking them not to take my picture. I don't have the same problem with mirrors. In a mirror, I'm average-looking.

It bothers me that everyone else looks "like themselves" in photos -- so I must *really* look that bad and just be deceiving myself when I look in a mirror. That's how I reason.
