Unicorn are psychotic, uncaring creatures who use their good names to lure unsuspecting virgins into their domain. Everyone thinks they're sweet, innocent, weak but in actuality they're killing machines who feast on virgins to sustain their long life.

Something like that.

Huh. So there may be an audience for that story I keep meaning to write after all.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-20 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Doooo iiiiiit. I would totally read it.

It's an idea I like that I see around every so often. There's an audience or I wouldn't see it at all.

You haven't come across the idea before?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-20 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
No! I am clearly deprived.

I once read a story where a unicorn was a carnivorous predator with an appearance and voice that was incredibly beautiful. Ever since, I can only think of unicorns how you describe, using beauty to lure their prey. And I imagine them like this picture, which is actually a unicorn killer, but I like it better as a unicorn itself.

That story sounds cool! What was it?

Also, the picture's not working for me for some reason.

Sorry, hope this works better.

Sword and Sorceress 16, the short story "Changed" by Lisa Deason. Can't believe I actually found it, lol.

Oh snap, that looks rad.

Thank you! I will try to see if my local library has it.

You're so terrific.

... AWESOME

So they're like sirens/mermaids, using their beauty to enchant people away to their deaths? That is so cooooool.

Yes it is. :)

Some do. Some just look monsterous but still have a good name to use as a mask. It depends on what the specific writer wants.
