Anomen Delryn (for those who don't know Baldur's Gate 2, he's warrior/cleric aspiring to become a knight, his drunkard father hates him and thinks he's a failure, his sister gets murdered, and either he can leave the matter be and get disowned, or go after the suspect and get rejected for knighthood and turn Chaotic Neutral.)

Squall Leonhart, and to a lesser degree Cloud Strife (but Cloud has the problem that Square retconned his recovery at the end of the original game in favour of gilding the lily of emo in Advent Children), and Vincent Valentine (again, he has Compilation complication extensions of his angst).

Boromir.

I also have a great tendency to always end up with my RP characters being broken in some way.

Yes to angsty Vincent and Boromir, so now I want to check put the BGate2.

I would encourage anyone to play BG2. It may be old now (over 10yrs old), but it's still a good game with a still lively modding community.
