Re: MY fav article from a tumblerite on this: I HAVE STRONG FEELINGS ABOUT RICE!

"Don’t waste your time finding white vegan “uses” for rice cookers like “steaming seitan sausage.” They weren’t made for that. They were made to feed families. And maybe you should think before you so callously dismiss something that might be important to somebody else."

Well, no, they weren't made to steam seitan sausages, they were made to cook rice. But if someone finds it useful for steaming sausages, why are they "wasting time" by doing that? Why is it a waste of time to use an appliance for something other than its intended purpose? And using your rice cooker for sausage isn't hurting the person who uses theirs for rice.

Oh, and the person who is steaming sausage might be doing that to feed their family too. "White vegans" have families who need to eat too.

Rice cookers aren't for cooking, they're for feeding people!

Someone should tell them that a lot of Japanese rice cookers have settings to do things like bake cakes in them.

I'm pretty sure rice cookers WERE made for things like that.

You can steam veggies AND rice in a rice cooker! At the same time!

If you use your rice cooker for anything other than cooking rice, you are literally taking food out of the mouths of people who only use it to cook rice.
