Maid Marian was not a princess in the movie.

That said, any character can be a Princess, even if they aren't a princess. I don't agree with the homogenization of the line-up, but I DEFINITELY appreciate the fact Disney Princesses get a lot of really awesome merch for adult fans (look at this doll! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-40BGGkO3ZHo/UBsDW1WBTTI/AAAAAAAAafE/mmqXWFJVhis/s640/2009DS17SWdoll1.jpg look at it!).

Ok I really don't know enough about Disney to discuss it so I'll just shut up now.

Yeah, she was King Richard's cousin (which...when I watched this again recently on netflix I realized was pretty weird since he's a lion) or something (hence the "outlaw for an inlaw" joke) but I think she's just of the nobility, not a princess herself.

She's his niece, which, I'm assuming he's her uncle cause he married into her family, otherwise John would be her uncle too.
