(Anonymous) 2014-02-21 01:11 am (UTC)(link)She's a very likable character, as are most of the cast of the movie, but the fact they're not human characters hinders them a bit. They're not "human" enough to be grouped with the Princess movies, and not "animal" enough to be grouped with The Lion King, Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians, etc.
She's not the only Disney heroine that's missing from the Princess lineup, if it makes you feel better. But she would just stick out a bit if you lined her up with the rest of them. Some of the meaner people out there would say something like "Well there's the blonde princess, the brunette princess, the red-haired princess, and the furry princess!" Poor Marian doesn't deserve that.
