SGA is one of those weird shows where for once I actually shipped a canon ship (Keller/McKay), and in response no one else in fandom did.

I don't know what to say, it was just soooo horrible!

I shipped it too - but I wasn't crazy about how they chose to handle it from The Shrine onwards. Up until then, though, I was very much onboard, and I still prefer it to Ronon/Keller.

I could never get into McKeller because as much as the characters might of been a good match intellectually, I could never get over the feeling that I was watching Martin Gero and some of the other writers get it on with Jewel using McKay as their proxy. It just squicked me so badly and it made me look at McKay as some sort of pervy uncle.

Hadn't thought about it that way, and I can see how that'd put people off. I've become super aware of Jane Espenson and her writer/shipping issues and it completely bleeds into how her episodes come across.

I didn't start watching SGA until its last season though and pretty much marathoned the whole series until the end, so I wasn't aware of any behind the scenes stuff. Still not for the most part.
