I get you. But that's a bit, a lot actually, different than making criminal profiles of serial bookmarkers.

...you seem to be under the impression that I saw they faved some incest fics and drew conclusions from there. This was FFN, not ao3, and their entire typical FFN-length was about their love for incest and smut. Which at first just made me curious about what they could've seen in my fic - my writing doesn't get much attention so I'm pretty much always curious about why people fave it - but then I just had a moment where it was like "Wait a minute, what if -" and it squicked me out a little bit. I'm not even judging them, just... Kinda bothered. Though I do understand it's a risk you sign up for when you put you're writing out there.

You did consider that your fic was just enjoyable, and not being curated for an incest gallery, right? You do sound like cooler, if more resigned, type of writer that just found out that there is a fandom writing about all the subtext they swore they never put in in :)

Aha yeah, I've considered it, and realize that could just as easily be the case. I don't even really care anymore (I made this secret like the day it happened, and I've calmed down since then); I just had a moment where I got too curious and squicked myself out, perhaps unnecessarily. 'xD Part of it could just be that I'm naive; I don't spend much time in shippy corners of fandom and have not yet completely attained that jaded Internet-user mindset that so many seem to have, where nothing can surprise you anymore.

Actually, I think it's my own naivety that makes me paranoid in the first place. Other people tend to see subtext or even innuendo where I don't see it, so I easily get worried that stuff I write will come across as creepy... it's actually happened before; my teacher in a creative writing class asked if I was trying to imply bestiality in one of my short stories about what was supposed to be a completely platonic relationship between a girl and a talking dragon, so... yeah. 'xD ...Sorry for rambling there.;;
