Having intermittently followed Mallozzi's blog since the ending of the show, if it had continued they would have gotten back to it. But since he's a lying liar who lies, I don't know. It did seem that was the original plan for the series, but then Rachel got pregnant and the writers couldn't figure out how to make it Johns (limited imagination if you ask me) so they gave her a relationship. And also they were so enamored of Jewel and David H they forgot anyone else in favor of getting McKay the pretty young girl.

Yeah I figured the actress getting pregnant probably messed up any John/Teyla plans but I also felt that the writers had gone cold on that idea a while before that point as well.
