I remember when it debuted on adultswim and had its first run, the fans on the boards were pretty enthusiastic, but yeah, it just never took off. Maybe because it wasn't a flashy action anime? It was extremely low-key and thoughtful compared to most of the anime CN was running, and adultswim's demographic at the time wasn't the type to appreciate that.

And yeah, the dub was really good. Crispin Freeman and Kari Wahlgren (as Robin) were exceptional.

Wolf's Rain, Witch Hunter Robin, and Scrapped Princess (and a little Last Exile, which I liked- because steampunk wasn't as pervasive and obnoxious then- but we never finished it for some reason) were the main animes my sister brought back from the ucla anime club, and I think they were all pre-liscence fansubbed at the time. In late 2004, I went to rewatch Robin and found that we had pirated the first 2 discs (onto vhs at that!) and no more of it. So I haven't seen the back 2/3 since the very first time!

Oh and Honey & Clover! Art school dramaaaa. That one had really great music too.
